FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The immigration process is complex, confusing, and intimidating. Intending immigrants and their sponsors often have questions about various aspects of the process. Attorney Pecci answers some of the most frequently asked questions regarding family-based immigration and related issues
Do I need an immigration attorney?
Limited help offered by non-lawyers in the immigration field and self-help (low cost) apparently seems to be an option nowadays. The Immigration legal practice is confronted everyday by clients who have placed their trust in someone that, far from helping, has impaired the dream of bringing a relative to the U.S. or has contributed even more to the deportation of the client.
Can I Bring my Family to the U.S.?
Determining if the benefit of bringing your family to the U.S. is available to you is a matter of first evaluating if your current status in the U.S. and your financial situation allows you to sponsor your relatives. U.S. Citizens have priority in sponsoring their relatives to become U.S. permanent residents, always that they comply with federal or U.S. laws. Immigrants and other non-immigrants temporary visitors may bring their relatives to reside or stay on a temporary basis subject to more strict requirements and a waiting time.
